Rosebery Road's Centenary Weekend
The weekend of 11th & 12 October saw the Anniversary celebrations at Rosebery Road. An exhibition depicting the history of the church from 1908 when the church was opened, but going back further to the hugely successful Sun Lane Sunday School from which the church grew, was open for viewing for the whole weekend. On Saturday afternoon the East Anglia branch of the Wesley Historical Society held its meeting at the church.
The main celebrations were the special services on the Sunday. The morning service was led by the present minister, Revd Nick Collison. Four former ministers had returned for the occasion, some taking part in the inspiring service. The church was full, with many former members returning to join in the celebrations, some travelling considerable distances. Following the service the large congregation enjoyed a buffet lunch in the Calvert Hall. Messages were read from former ministers and members who had been unable to be there in person.
In the evening The Lord Mayor of Norwich and the Sheriff, together with their ladies, attended a Circuit Service at which the preacher was Revd Graham Thompson, Chairman of the East Anglia District.
